Hey,

My name is Christina Seay.  I’m the co-owner of Little Ole’ Me Designs.  I do everything from graphic design to custom illustration work, including book illustrations.  I work on a PC, and use the Adobe Suite.

I live in Northern Georgia in the US, about 15 minutes from Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Wow.. I don’t know what else to say about myself.. any questions, just ask!!

Nice another design pro that uses a PC!

I get allot of Mac fanatics around my way and allot of dirty looks when they hear I’m on a PC.

That’s OK though. Set my machine up against a Mac Pro anytime. here’s what I run:
Dual Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 (overclocked to 3.73GHz)
8 GB Dual-Channel DDR2
1 (1)TB Single Serial ATA Hard Drive
1 (100)GB Single Serial ATA Hard Drive
Dual 768MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
Fiber Bus Architecture
750 Watt PS

I guess, I’m a dinosaur.
IBM laptop 1Ghz, 725Mb RAM, dual wide screen connected to the poor guy, left letch is broken and the damn thing is only runs Ok if right corner is bent a bit with some support underneath (I guess the wire is loose somewhere). It also runs full blown apache testing webserver, .net, visual studio, php debugger, half of the Adove Suite and about 30 other soft installations. It crashes at least once every 2 days and it takes around 7 minutes to power it up. It also works as my GPS map when I go into mountains, has capability to connect to any WiFi in a radius of 1km and my girlfriend swears every time it tries to check her mail on this thing. cool smile
If anyone wants to see the photo of this wonder of the world just let know. grin

No Worries stealing my thread.. lol

I have 3 computers, one is a dinosaur desktop I think is about to get donated to the kids as a play computer, I run my awesome laptop, and my husband works on a new desktop.

I love my laptop.. lol.. the only time it really slows down is when I’m accessing it remotely while I’m at the day job and I’m being sneaky and working on design stuff… lol ;o)

I don’t understand the big to-do with Macs for design stuff.. I don’t like them.  And what’s with the duplicate files when someone on a Mac emails you something and you’re on a PC??!!  You get one tiny file and then the actual file and both have the same name, but the tiny file is just junk, it doesn’t do anything.  It’s crazy!

I understand why. For low end users “it just works” and it maintains itself w/o needing help or prompting. It also has a decently restrict user controll slike unix & linix distro’s so ppl can’t botch it up too bad.

As long as you know how to treat your machine right. You’ll always get more bang for the buck on a PC. Macs will last longer. )I have a G4 that’s 7years old and still whipping donkey)
But who wants to use the same machine for 7 years?  In this disposable market, your better off getting a new PC every few years and upgrading.

I run Vista ultimate and love it. Allot of Mac users say it just rips off OS X. Not true, they just share some functionality.

Seems like we may need a Computer thread in here w/ a Mac and PC subforum???  No fanboy comments on either side. Just the facts Maam.

PC vs. Mac is definitely a heated debate.  You’re definitely right about upgrading.  Even if your computer can handle what you want it to do for 10 years doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go with something that will do it better.  You can buy one with room to upgrade and upgrade it for 3-4 years and then flat out replace the whole thing and it works pretty well.  Keeps you current without making you broke… lol

Gah, i feel so old, even at 19, i have 4PCs (even after selling two). My oldest is my server/ftp box, which used to double up as my mom’s schoolwork pc, then there’s the lappy, which has been running great for 5 years, the battery is a bit bogged, but it’s a good thing to use today too. Then the new monster we got in feb, c2d and the like and the replaced pc, a 2.4 single core, upgraded gfx, good amount of ram.

I never saw the point of throwing out older PCs, they work, use them. Youll get next to nothing since even slightly old models come for cheap, so you might as well keep em.

I thnk it all boils down to personality. I’m an out w/ the old in w/ the new. Don’t think my way is right or wrong. Just my way.

I’m excited to be in here since I want to learn more about web stuff like PHP and osCommerce. And there are already some really smart ppl in here.  I want to become a more rounded technology person so I can provide more for clients than what I do now. Lots of ppl out there w/ ideas that just need simple executions of their ideas to get it launched. Someone has to do it. Why not me?
