Hello,

Can anyone tell me what it consist of? Like what type of designs companies will look for. What makes a strong portfolio? Anyone have a website that I can browse to get ideas?

I’m trying to get into the Design field. I’m just at a loss for where to start.

You wanna keep as wide as possible line in your portfolio, lot of variation. You never know exactly what a possible customer will want, so it’s best to show as much diversity as possible. Always best to appeal to as many people as possible.

It also depends what kind of agency you wanna work for, if it’s a web agency, you wanna have many websites in there, if it’s advertising you wanna have alot of idea based work etc.

Also, if you need help with actually building the portfolio, here’s a link to some of the tutorials available on this site http://www.tutorial-index.com/index.php/search/results/a515c959242f95af88b3016b9fd1a349/.

Thanks for all the input guys. Does anyone have a good place to go and see other people’s portfolios, just so I can get a really good idea of what others are doing?

The best place I can think of to view other people’s portfolios is on http://www.ifreelance.com You can go through user’s IFreelance portfolios there really easily since people can host up to 40 images on their portfolio and they often include links to their personal sites in their portfolios as well, so you can visit their web pages.

I hope this helps you out some :O)

Thanks!  I use that site a lot.  It makes it really easy to look at your competition.  I find jobs that I want to bid on and look at all the other bidders for it and go through their profiles and see what all they have.
